Eyes on Owls (Intergenerational Event0
Who's Watching You? Owls of the World presented by Eyes on Owls (an Intergenerational Event)Wednesday, May 7 - 1:30—2:30 PMSpalding Field, Church Street, Carlisle, MA![]() Who’s watching you? Find out on Wednesday, May 7th when Eyes on Owls presents a live owl program at Spalding Field. All who attend are in for some fun with close-up views of these secretive birds of prey. Naturalists Marcia and Mark Wilson will present “Who’s Watching You? Owls of the World.” The Wilsons introduce the audience to six owls found in New England and as well as other parts of the world. Marcia imitates the owls’ calls herself, paying special attention to the more common owls that we might encounter in our area. After a hooting lesson and much audience anticipation, Marcia brings out the live owls one at a time. With each owl perched securely on her gloved hand, she walks out in front of the audience with six or seven owls. There’s plenty of time for close-up views, photos, and questions. Each owl presented has a permanent disability that prevents them from surviving on their own in the wild. These non-releasable owls are captivating ambassadors from the world of wildlife. The Wilsons are legally permitted by state and federal agencies to use live owls in their environmental educational programs. Which owl eats skunks? Can a little detective work reveal where owls live near you? What do pellets tell us about an owl’s diet? How can we protect owls and their habitats? The Wilsons explore these questions and more during this fun, interactive program. This fun program is for all ages! This event will be postponed if heavy rains/thunderstorms are predicted. Our rain date is Thursday, May 8th at 3:30 PM. If you have any questions about this event, please email us at childrens@gleasonlibrary.org. Visit gleasonlibrary.org or call the library at 978-369-4898 to register. Please bring along a blanket or low camp chairs to sit on along with sunscreen, a hat, and a bottle of water.
This program is sponsored by the Susan Zielinski Natural Science Fund, the Carlisle Recreation Department, and the Carlisle Council on Aging and Human Services. Chair Yoga

Eyes on Owls (Intergenerational Event0
Wednesday May 7, 2025 1:30 PM to 2:30 PM
Who's Watching You? Owls of the World presented by Eyes on Owls (an Intergenerational Event)
Wednesday, May 7 - 1:30—2:30 PM
Spalding Field, Church Street, Carlisle, MA
Who’s watching you?
Autographed copies of Mark's recent books, Owling: Enter the World of the Mysterious Birds of the Night and The Snowy Scientist will be available for purchase after the event.
This program is sponsored by the Susan Zielinski Natural Science Fund, the Carlisle Recreation Department, and the Carlisle Council on Aging and Human Services.

Pamela Hollingworth: A Remarkable Rescue Story
Wednesday, May 28| 11:30am
Clark Room, Town Hall
In 1941, five-year-old Pamela Hollingworth became lost on Mount Chocorua in New Hampshire, sparking an eight-day search that grew into one of the largest rescue efforts in New England history. An estimated 6,000 people took part in the mission to find her. Against all odds, Pamela survived freezing nights with no food—found unharmed and waiting for her father. This unforgettable story will be told through the eyes of her then nine-year-old brother, Ted Hollingworth—Professor Emeritus at Emerson and Harvard, and a Carlisle resident since 1965. Register by Friday, May 23. Refreshments will be served!
