The Life and Music of Aaron Copland

Aaron Copland was an American composer, composition teacher, writer, and later in his career a conductor of his own and other American music. The open, slowly changing harmonies of many of his works are archetypical of what many people consider to be the sound of American music, evoking the vast American landscape and pioneer spirit. Instrumental in forging a distinctly American style of composition, in his later years Copland was often referred to as "the Dean of American Composers."

Faroe Islands - Rugged Nature in the North Atlantic

The Faroe Islands, a remote group of eighteen islands settled by Vikings over a thousand years ago, are known for their striking beauty, shaped by volcanic origins and glacial erosion. Covered in lush greenery, the islands feature steep ridges, cascading waterfalls, and charming villages with turf-roofed houses. Barry Pell, who recently explored nearly all of the islands, found them to be the most beautiful place he has ever visited.
